Zongqiang Li is an assistant professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Pharmacology at the Medical School of Southern University of Science and Technology. He obtained his PhD from Tsinghua University in 2022, during which he also served as a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Life Sciences from 2022 to 2024. He has received prestigious honors and awards including the "Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award" from Tsinghua University, the "Special Postdoctoral Fund" from Tsinghua-Peking Joint Center for Life Sciences, and recognition as an "Excellent Scholar" at Beijing Frontier Research Center for Biological Structure. He has successfully led multiple research projects funded by organizations such as National Natural Science Foundation, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. As a first or co-author, he has published numerous significant research findings in internationally renowned journals including Nature, Cell, Cell Research, and Nature Communications. His research group primarily employs techniques encompassing cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and structural biology to investigate the structure and function of key disease-related biomolecules.
The investigations of biological macromolecules and their complexes associated with severe diseases primarily focus on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders triggered by nuclear pore complex dysfunction, as well as exploring the interplay between pathogens and host cells from a structural and functional perspective.
