DONG Jintang, PhD, Chair Professor of School of Medicine, Southern University of Science and Technology. He received his BS degree in Biology from Nankai University in 1984 and PhD degree in Pathophysiology from Peking Union Medical College and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in 1989. He was a postdoctoral fellow in National Institutes of Health and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. And then assistant professor, associate professor of University of Virginia School of Medicine. And then associate professor, professor of Emory University School of Medicine. He joined SUSTech in 2018. He has finished a large number of research projects funded by national agencies. He is also the recipient of several awards. He has published more than 120 papers in international journals including Science, Nature Genetics and Nature Communications. He is an associate editor or on the editorial boards of multiple international journals, including Journal of Genetics and Genomics, The Prostate and Journal of Biological Chemistry. His research focuses on molecular pathogenesis of human cancer, particularly the oncogenes in prostate cancer progression. He has led the team to engage in basic molecular research of tumor development for more than 20 years, and has trained more than 30 doctors and postdocs.
Molecular basis of tumorigenesis and its application: professor Dong jintang's research group use a variety of research methods and tumor models, including genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology and histopathology, to understand the biological mechanism of the initiation and progression of prostate cancer and to explore its application in tumor diagnosis and treatment.
