Chen Shiyi, President of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), paid an official visit to the School of Medicine and Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University (JHN) from January 20 to 22, 2016 and achieved fruitful results. JHU attached great importance to the visit. Professor Roy Ziegelstein, Vice Dean of School of Medicine; Charles Wiener, Vice President for International Division; Nancy Hueppchen, Vice Dean; Sanford Wu, Executive Director for International Division and other senior leadership met the delegation led by Chen.

Ziegelstein spoke highly of SUSTC's schooling philosophy and development vision, admiring the results it has achieved in a short time. JHU is much willing to establish cooperation with SUSTech in various fields. At the meeting, the senior leaders present provided valuable advice. Both sides were full of confidence in the extensive cooperation between the two universities.

After the meeting, accompanied Vice President Wiener, Executive Director Wu and Deputy Director Li, the delegation led by Chen, visited the school of medicine and hospital facilities.

On January 22 the delegation held talks with Ed Schlesinger, Dean of the Whiting Engineering School, JHU; Andrew Douglas, Vice Dean of the Whiting Engineering School, JHU, Hedy Alavi; Louis Whitcomb and over ten faculty members form the school discussing cooperation in a wide range of engineering fields. Schlesinger was supportive of the cooperation in medical education, offering valuable advice on the cooperation with SUSTech.
