中国科学院院士,南方科技大学讲席教授。国家心血管病中心原副主任、中国医学科学院阜外医院原副院长、南方科技大学原副代理副校长。分别于1983年、1986年、2007年获得南京医科大学医学学士学位、中国协和医科大学医学硕士学位、北京协和医学院理学博士学位。现为中华预防医学会副会长、世界卫生组织心血管和慢性病防治专家,国家“健康中国行动”专家委员、中国医学科学院学术咨询委员会医学学部执行委员会委员、中国医学科学院学术咨询委员会药学-卫生健康与环境-生物医学工程与信息学部副主任。

预防心脏病学与流行病学家,长期从事心脑血管等慢性病的流行病学、人群防治和遗传病因研究。牵头大型队列研究,揭示我国心血管病流行趋势、创建我国心脑血管病风险预测模型,制订指南提出防治策略和措施,构建高脂血症和冠心病遗传特征谱,创建冠心病基因组风险评估模型,探索和推进冠心病精准医学研究和转化应用。获得国家26项发明专利授权、2项国家科技进步奖二等奖。发表系列重要的科学研究论文,研究成果被国内外防治指南和权威教科书及世界卫生组织专著等广泛引用。
