On July 13th 2017, SUSTech successfully completed its undergraduate enrollment campaign which spanned over 22 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across China. This year marks a significant improvement in terms of quality of the students, enrolling on average the top 2% totalling 1005 new excellent recuits for the next academic year.

The 2017 enrollment campaign started on July 4th, and by July 13th already 34 students from Jiangsu had been admitted. Throughout the whole process, the rest of the 1005 students will also be notified of their admission.

Meanwhile, the Enrollment Office conducted real-time guidance, supervision and decision-making sessions on the admission process and examined the students’ work. The university leaders also conducted on-the-spot visits to inspect the working conditions.

SUSTech is becoming a first choice university for more and more students in China, thanks to a high standard of assessment. This year, there are 91 new students from Guangdong joining the university, accounting for 60% of the province’s top freshmen. Among them, 19 foreign language school graduates, 16 come from secondary schools, 12 from senior secondary schools, 9 from the Shenzhen Experimental High School, and 8 from the Hongling Middle School. This shows that the Shenzhen students and their parents recognize SUSTech’s growing influence and hope to join its ranks, which is a great sign for the university.

   In recent years, the number of candidates applying to SUSTech has grown significantly year after year. In 2017 just under 28,000 candidates applied online, an increase of 50% over last year. In particular, it is worth mentioning that the number of applicants from the province’s top high school has doubled.

       Overall, 2017 sees new arrivals of students who have excellent foundation knowledge and comprehensive abilities, they have strong academic and innovative ambitions and they were selected because they fit the profile of SUSTech perfectly.
